Glorfindel had had enough. When he first arrived in Imladris, he
was greeted by all with reverence and kindness, even from the
taciturn Advisor. The Slayer did not know what he had done, but not
two months after he had met Erestor, the Advisor had turned cold and
indifferent to him. That was nearly two years ago and Glorfindel's
heart hurt too much to go on this way. Almost instantly, the Advisor
had stolen his heart, but Glorfindel knew that he would never gain
Erestor's love but he wanted his friendship at least.
Glorfindel turned the corner and upon seeing the dark-haired
Advisor, called out, "Erestor, I need to speak to you!"
Erestor mentally cursed his luck at seeing Glorfindel and turned
quickly, saying over his shoulder, "I forgot, Lord Elrond wanted to
speak to me before the evening meal. I will have to talk to you
later."
Glorfindel narrowed his eyes and followed in pursuit, he was not
about to let Erestor get away from him.
All day, Erestor had to suffer the fools from the neighboring
villages in a trade meeting and now he was just too exhausted to
deal with Glorfindel. The Advisor did not know why the Valar sought
to torment him like this, by sending Glorfindel into his life. He
had enjoyed the Elda's company, enjoyed his sense of humor, but that
was until the Slayer took hold of his heart. A heart that had been
well hidden and unattainable and still, to this day, Erestor did not
know how Glorfindel had captured it. He knew that the mighty Balrog
Slayer would never be interested in someone like him, besides, if
the rumors and legends were true, he and Ecthelion had been lovers.
Surely Glorfindel still loved him, for Erestor had yet to see
Glorfindel take a lover since his return.
Glorfindel stopped and peaked quietly around the corner and
watched as Erestor ducked into his office. Moving quickly,
Glorfindel reached the chamber just before Erestor managed to close
the door.
Erestor's eyes widened when Glorfindel pushed his way into his
office and slammed the door closed. Quickly turning, Erestor went to
stand behind his desk, trying to regain his composure.
Glorfindel stopped before Erestor's desk and demanded, "Why do you
run from me? Why do you dislike me so? What did I do to make you
treat me the way that you do?"
Erestor could not look into Glorfindel's eyes so he pretended to
tidy up is already neat desk and said, "I do not dislike you."
Glorfindel was about to call him a liar but heard the slight hitch
in the Advisor's voice. Frowning, he walked around the desk and
grasped the Advisor by his shoulders and said, "Then why will you
not look into my eyes?"
Erestor could not, he knew that he could not possibly hide his
feeling for the Slayer, so he closed them tightly and whispered, "I
am tired Lord Glorfindel. I have had a long day. Maybe we could
finish this conversation on the morrow?"
Taking a chance, Glorfindel cradled the Advisor's cheek, lifted
his face and said, "Open your eyes meleth (love)."
Erestor's eyes snapped open upon hearing the endearment and he saw
the loving, hopeful smile that graced the Slayer's lips.
Glorfindel watched as the most beautiful chocolate-brown eyes
filled with tears. He did not miss the vulnerability that was also
present and he vowed that he would see it disappear before the night
was done. "I love you Erestor. I have from almost the moment that I
met you. Saes (Please) tell me that you feel the same," Glorfindel
said hopefully.
It was like something in Erestor broke free and he could not
contain the happiness that he felt and he smiled, "I have always
loved you."
Glorfindel beamed down at Erestor before he drew him into his arms
and pressed his lips to his new found love. When air was needed, he
hugged Erestor close and whispered in his ear, "You have made my
life worth living once more."
Erestor tightened his arms around Glorfindel's neck and he knew
that he was the reason why he had hid his heart for so long. This
soul that held him was the only one that had the key that could
unlock Erestor's soul's icy barrier.
The End
